The team of Engineering Smiles has had a busy and productive Fall of 2014 semester!
Over the course of summer and fall semester, Engineering Smiles has met with community partner, IMAHelps. At the first meeting of the semester, IMAHelps traveled from California to Tempe, Arizona to meet the team and view the initial designs of the mobile dental unit. IMAHelps responded positively to the design our team created, which included four full dental stations, one of the chairs being primarily children oriented. The meeting helped Engineering Smiles understand the impact of this dental unit as well as hone in on details such as the flow of movement in the trailer. The team then moved forward with the design utilizing a trailer and implemented the feedback received from the meeting with IMAHelps.
Engineering Smiles also proudly accepted an invitation to Arizona State University’s Presidents Event. Here, the team was able to make contact with potential donors and present the designs to many prominent members of the ASU community.
To finalize the end of a productive semester, Engineering Smiles presented the project in front of an EPICS(Engineering Projects in Community Service) review board. The team received constructive feedback on the concepts and designs and is now working hard to finalize designs which will then be signed off by an architect.
