Who We Are

We are a small, brainy and dedicated team of Arizona State University undergrads that is using engineering to save smiles.

Sara Mantlik

Project Manager

Sara is the team lead and project manager for the Engineering Smiles EPICS team. She has been involved in this project since the beginning and is excited to see it through to completion. Sara is currently a junior pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering at Arizona State University. She is also involved with Fulton Ambassadors on campus, representing the Ira Fulton Schools of Engineering. She aslo performs as a member of Tau Beta Pi (Engineering Honors Society).

Nick Kemme

Project Engineer

Nick is the project engineer for Engineering Smiles. He has been with the project from its inception and helped prepare the project for its CGI debut last spring. Nick is currently involved with the logistics and procurement of assets for the project. He has worked on the design and budget throughout the year. He is a junior undergraduate honors student at Arizona State University pursing a BSE in Mechanical Engineering. Nick is responsible for the quality control and logistics of the project.

Jackie Janssen

Team Coordinator

Jackie is the Team Coordinator for Engineering Smiles. She joined the team at its inception and is interested in bringing medical care to those less fortunate. Jackie is studying to be a Biomedical Engineer. She works with IMAHelps as well as other outside sources in order to reach the goals of all involved in the project. Jackie is also in charge of grant writing and fundraising, as well as all aspects of communication and media.

Fionnuala McPeake

Chief of Staff

Fionnuala is the team’s research and development support for Engineering Smiles. She has been part of the team since its formation in August 2013, and plans to continue until the project is complete. Her interests lie in making medical equipment more affordable and accessible. She is a Biomedical Engineering major and plans to graduate in 2017. Fionnuala helps with the research that is vital to attending to the needs of those IMAHelps is helping, as well as grant writing and fundraising.

Christine Bui

Design Manager

Christine is the designer for Engineering Smiles and has been involved on the project since August 2014. She graduated in May 2015 from ASU, with a BSD in Architectural Studies and a minor in Sustainability. She is involved in design development, which is concerned with driving the spatial aspects of the project to a high level of efficiency.

Andrea Kemmerrer

Project Logistics Lead

Andrea is the newest member of the Engineering Smiles team having joined in September of 2015. Andrea wishes to improve current medical equipment to make it even easier for doctors to treat patients or for patients to assist themselves. She graduated in May from Arizona State with a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering. She is now attending the University of California, San Diego for a Masters in Bioengineering. Andrea manages the Engineering Smiles website, helps with grant writing, and expanding the social outreach of the project.
